Exodus 31-34

Exodus 31-34

About the Reading:

Today we read how the Israelites were very quick to turn from God and begin worshiping the golden calf.

This action leads to a lot of actions and discussions between God and Moses.

My Thoughts and Notes:

To be honest, I am still absorbing the reading so, today, I want to hear YOUR thoughts and notes on this reading.  What did you think?

  1. Chapter 32. Oh the Israelites. They declared to Moses "Everything the LORD has said, we will do."
Ch. 24 v. 3 We might well think, "Oh what little faith the Israelites had to turn against God so quickly." But wait, are we any better, really? When I read the story of the Israelite, and all the times they would say "We will follow the LORD," to only turn around and sin against God in some way or another I think how like that I am. I will read a book or be touched by a sermon or Sunday School lesson and say "I will follow God more closely and do all that He asks of me," to only turn around and make a sinful choice about something, or get so engrossed in myself and my life that I completely leave God out of the mix. But I am also so greatly encouraged because God KEEPS giving them chance after chance after chance to do the right thing. And He will give us chance after chance after chance after chance.....well you get the idea. I am continually THANKFUL that He gives so many chances. I do think that every time I fail, I improve and grow a little. I am also go very glad I have something that the Israelites didn't have.....God in me. To them He was an external God, for us He lives in us through the Holy Spirit. Praise His HOLY NAME!!!
