Kristos Anesti!

Or, in English, Christ is Risen!

The correct response is Alitos Anesti! Or, Truly He has risen!

I wish you and you family a fabulous, blessed, Pascha day!

Oh, and congratulations to our regular reader/contributor who you know as Michael Mary who was baptized yesterday.  I am so happy for you!

Talk amongst yourselves

I am so sorry it's been so long.  We are in the process of moving (if you didn't hear) which is taking up a lot of my evenings.  I am also in the process of planning a 4 hour training for this Saturday.  Anyone want to crawl into my brain and take out this creative idea that I KNOW is stuck in there that I just can't fish out?

Unfortunately, that means I haven't been updating the Bible readings here.  I have been reading, but I haven't gotten a chance to post on them.  So, who wants to start with a recap and some thoughts?  Anyone?  Please, talk amongst yourselves.

Deuteronomy 3:18-6

Deuteronomy 3:18-6

About the Reading:

We first learn that Moses is not to cross the Jordan.

We also hear more rules of obedience and laws as well as we hear the 10 commandments.

My Thoughts and Notes:

Deuteronomy 4:9 states:

“Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.”

That speaks to me.  It is, in a way, a reminder to myself to remember all that we have read so far and to never forget, never let our children forget.

Imagine, these words have been passed from generation to generation for so many years.  It’s really absolutely awesome, isn’t it?

What spoke to you today?

Deuteronomy 1-3:17

Deuteronomy 1-3:17

About the Book:

The last of the books in the Pentateuch, Deuteronomy is a second version of the Law.

About the Reading:

We start out by hearing the final instructions from Moses to the people.  We also read of the ending of their long journey

My Thoughts and Notes:

How frustrating it must have been for all these people to have been traveling for 40 years in the desert.  God had a purpose in this journey and lessons were learned throughout this time as the people multiplied and became great in number.

I wonder if any of them thought, as they were ending this journey, “yeah, He says it’s the end…but is it really?  Where will be go next?”

What are your thoughts on the reading?

Numbers 33-36

Numbers 33-36

About the Reading:

Today we read the end of Numbers.  We find out the stages of the travels, town lines, and final inheritances.

My Thoughts and Notes:

While reading today’s passage, I find myself thinking that it’s just tying up some loose ends from the rest of the book.  I’m sure there is something more important in there; I just didn’t find it.

Anyone want to enlighten me?  Anyone want to leave some final thoughts on Numbers before we move on to the next book?

Numbers 30-32

Numbers 30-32

About the Reading:

We begin the reading learning about taking vows, both men and women, and the rules about them.

Then we read about the vengeance on the Midianites and divvying up the spoils.

My Thoughts and Notes:

I can’t help but to think, “be a man of your word” when I read today’s reading.  This shows how vital it is to mean what you say and to follow through with what you say you are going to do.

I know, at times, I struggle with this.  I don’t struggle intentionally; but at times, with good intentions, I say I am going to do something and then I drop the ball and forget to follow through.  I’m working on it.

Are you good about keeping you word?  What stood out to you today?

Numbers 26-29

Numbers 26-29

About the Reading:

We start out with another census.  We then learn of a new rule that is made for a man who has no sons.  That man's daughters is to get his inheritance.  If no daughters, then go down a specific line in the family.  We also learn more about offerings.

My Thoughts and Notes:

The part that stood out to me today was the inheritance...once I got through all the census stuff (still not any easier to get through).  I would have thought, however, that this issue of a man's inheritance if he has no sons would have come up sooner.  Maybe it was an issue before, but this is the first time that it was brought up to God.  A fair and just ruling, give it to the daughters!  It makes sense, right?

What stood out to you today?
