Genesis 44-47

Genesis 44-47

About the Reading:

Again we continue with the story of Joseph.  The first thing that happens is that Joseph reveals himself to his brothers; then he tells them to go back and bring his father and their families back with them.  Pharaoh offers them the best land in Egypt.

The family moves and we continue on the story of those times and how Pharaoh acquires all the land.

My Thoughts and Notes:

Is it just me, or is this one of the easier readings that we have had so far?  Or is it that I am just getting into the swing and rhythm?  Or maybe it’s because I really know this story well and that’s why it is so easy to read.

I don’t have any specific thoughts on what is going on, I just find it easy to read.

What are your thoughts on the reading?

  1. Was Joseph just wanting to spend more time with Benjamen and his other brothers? Is that why he planted the cup in Benjamen's sack? I have never understood why Joseph did some of the things he did in dealing with his brothers.
After Joseph could stand it no longer, he revealed himself to his brothers, and convinced them to move to Egypt.
My favorite verse in this reading is Chapter 46:3 & 4 "I am God, the God of your father," he said. "Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph's own hand will close your eyes." During the whole affair, from Joseph being sold into captivity to Jacob and his family moving to Egypt, GOD was controlling everything. As He was in control then, He is in control now. Praise His name.
