About the Reading:
We continue with the calling of Moses to do God’s work. God assigns Aaron to be Moses’ mouthpiece.
My Thoughts and Notes:
Yes, that is pretty much what today’s reading is about…twice over. Did you catch that? It’s like the story winds back and tells us the same thing.
Moses tells God that he doesn’t want to speak to Pharaoh because he speaks slow. I have often wondered if this means that he had a speech impediment like stuttering. What do you think?
What did you notice in today’s reading?
So God called Moses to go back to Egypt and lead the Hebrew children out. Unlike Abraham, who, when God told hem to go just went without question, Moses argued with God. Have you ever argued with God? Trust me, it doesn't do any good. Only after God promised to send Aaron with him, did Moses agree to go. Off the Egypt they go, and march right up to Pharaoh and say "Let us go 3 days into the desert to worship." Of course Pharaoh refused, and not only that, he took away the straw (used to make bricks) but did not decrease the quota of bricks to be made, so the Israelites got mad at Moses. But God tells Moses to "just stand back and watch what I'm going to do now!" (well, He sort of said that).
